About 24 to 48 hours before ovulation, a rise in LH lets your ovaries know that they should release an egg to (potentially) be fertilized. This hormone stays elevated for 1 to 2 days, so when an ovulation test detects a rise in LH, it\u2019s a sign that you\u2019re ovulating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How are ovulation tests relevant for fertility?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the chances of pregnancy are highest during the five or six days that make up your fertile window, knowing when you\u2019re ovulating can let you know when you\u2019re most fertile. Ovulation generally happens within 48 hours of a positive ovulation test, so if you get a positive test, you\u2019re probably in your fertile window. However, ovulation tests can\u2019t tell you if you\u2019re going to ovulate soon or confirm if you\u2019ve already ovulated, so they\u2019re most effective when tracking other signs of fertility and ovulation, including cervical fluid or BBT (basal body temperature).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do I track them?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The first step in tracking through ovulation tests is, of course, to take a test. Because ovulation tests search for the elevated presence of LH in urine, the test involves some strategic peeing \u2013 the test must come into contact with your urine, either by first peeing in a cup or peeing directly on the test. After coming into contact with your urine, the test results usually take about 10 minutes to display. Because the fertile window after the LH surge lasts only a few days at the most, it\u2019s important to test often as ovulation approaches. Once you get your results, you can log this data in your Ovia app, choosing from the options: \u201cpositive,\u201d \u201cnegative,\u201d \u201cunclear,\u201d \u201cpeak,\u201d \u201chigh,\u201d or \u201clow.\u201d A few other tips: when using an ovulation test, start testing 3-5 days before the predicted day of ovulation, and test everyday at the same time.
