All toddlers develop at different rates, and some grow to be significantly larger than their peers. Hey, someone has got to fill out the top of that growth chart, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toddlers are small by definition, even a couple of inches can make a big difference when it comes to guessing a young child\u2019s age. If a toddler is standing a full head taller than <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> peers, it\u2019s definitely no reason to worry, as long as <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> pediatrician says <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they is<\/span> growing on a typical growth curve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still, a tall toddler can raise some eyebrows from strangers, who may think <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they is<\/span> older than <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they actually is<\/span>. This can be frustrating, when children are expected to behave with a maturity they haven\u2019t grown into yet. The parents of tall tots may find themselves constantly cluing strangers into how old their children actually are.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a few ways to handle assumptions about a toddler\u2019s age that may not be strictly true.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Brush it off: <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If someone in the grocery line is trying to strike up a conversation with <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span>, but <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they isn\u2019t<\/span> there verbally because of <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> age, it can be helpful to try not to make a big deal of the situation. As long as the person isn\u2019t being rude, there\u2019s no need to defend <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> for <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> reply (or lack of one), and keeping your response low-key can help to keep <span class=\"pronoun-them\" data-pronoun=\"them\">them<\/span> from feeling like <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they\u2019s<\/span> behind where <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they should<\/span> be. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Acknowledge the situation: <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At other times, you may get looks or even comments you don\u2019t care for, and may choose to respond. people come in all shapes and sizes, and that <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they is<\/span> perfect just the way <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they
