So before you introduce them, you should ask yourself:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Is my pet neutered or spayed?<\/strong> Dogs and cats that lack an endgame in their humping are much less likely to be hyperactive and jumpy, both of which are risky pet personalities to have around <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Has my pet been checked out by a vet?<\/strong> It\u2019s always good to get your pet evaluated at the vet\u2019s office before <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span> arrives, just to make sure that your best animal buddy doesn\u2019t have a disease or condition that could put <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span> at risk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Is my pet ready for <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span>?<\/strong> Setting up <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span>\u2019s crib, and playing crying sounds before <span data-pronoun=\"they\" class=\"pronoun-they\">they is<\/span> even born is a great way to get your pet used to the new environment that he or she must pet it up in, as the last thing you\u2019d want is your cat or dog to freak out when <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span> arrives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Are my pets nails too sharp?<\/strong> If your dog or cat is a jumper with sharp nails, <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span> might be on the receiving end of a nasty scratch. Even pets need manicures sometimes!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The bottom line<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Everybody is close to their pets, but <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span>\u2019s needs definitely supersede your dog or cat&#8217;s. So while it\u2019s unlikely that any drastic changes need to be made, these questions can help ensure a great first meeting <em>and<\/em> keep your child safe.\u00a0So make sure your pet&#8217;s veterinary needs\u00a0are up to date, their nails are freshly filed, and that you&#8217;ve already started to acclimate them to all things baby &#8211; minus <span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span>, of course &#8211; before the big meeting.\u00a0And then take, well, baby steps as you make the introduction. Your little loves should be getting along in no time.
