Here&#8217;s why your body might be doing it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If scents have seemed stronger to you lately, you might be experiencing a heightened sense of smell.<\/p>\n<h2>What causes heightened sense of smell?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oviahealth.com\/guide\/250364\/your-menstrual-cycle-and-your-hormones\/\">Hormones<\/a> are usually to blame for a heightened sense of smell. A heightened sense of smell is a very common early pregnancy symptom, most likely due to elevated progesterone levels. Less common reasons for a heightened sense of smell include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oviahealth.com\/guide\/100836\/fertility-managing-anxiety-while-ttc\/\">anxiety<\/a>, or where a woman is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oviahealth.com\/guide\/250364\/your-menstrual-cycle-and-your-hormones\/\">in her cycle<\/a>, as some studies suggest that around the time of ovulation, women have a heightened sense of smell.<\/p>\n<h3>Tips?<\/h3>\n<p>Try to avoid any strong-smelling foods, and leave your windows open to dilute strong odors as much as you can.
