Vaginal bleeding involves a significantly heavier flow.<\/p>\n<h2>What causes it?<\/h2>\n<p>Heavy vaginal bleeding is most commonly caused by pregnancy, uterine polyps, or fibroids. Less-common causes of include thyroid problems, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oviahealth.com\/guide\/101276\/pcos-what-is-it\/\">polycystic ovary syndrome<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oviahealth.com\/guide\/10067\/ectopic-pregnancy\/\">ectopic pregnancy,<\/a> and some infections, like pelvic inflammatory disease or chlamydia.
