So, just what do you need? From cribs to carriers, bathtubs to breast pumps, swaddles to swings, this list can tell you where to begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A registry checklist like this should be used as a starting place since what works best for your family will depend on several considerations, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What space\u00a0<span data-pronoun=\"baby\" class=\"pronoun-baby\">Baby<\/span>\u00a0will be sleeping in the early days<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you\u2019re looking to buy just the necessities early on and more items items over time as\u00a0they grows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you\u2019ll be borrowing any baby gear<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want items that are versatile and can grow with your baby<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to splurge on a few items, if you want to stick to a strict budget or any number of other factors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Think of this as a list of suggestions, not a be-all, end-all list of absolutely everything you need. When picking out all of this baby gear, there\u2019s no right or wrong, only what works best for your family. You\u2019ll easily be able to buy what you need or want as time goes on and baby grows, as long as you have the basics to start.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Feeding time<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nursing pillow and nursing pillow covers (at least two\u00a0can be helpful\u00a0in case of accidents &#8211; like leaking milk, spit up, or other messes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Breast pump and accessories (if breastfeeding)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Formula (if formula feeding)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bottles, nipples, and bottle accessories (such as bottle sterilizer, bottle warmer, dishwasher bottle basket, bottle drying rack, and milk storage bags)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Burp cloths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bibs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nipple cream<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nursing pads and nursing bras<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Baby body care<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bathtub<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baby body care products (such as gentle scent-free shampoo, body wash, and lotion)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baby grooming products\u00a0(such as comb, soft brush, toothbrush, nail file, nail clippers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baby first aid items, such as thermometer (a rectal thermometer and another if you like, such as an ear or temporal thermometer), nasal bulb, saline nasal spray, and even infant acetaminophen (but you\u2019ll always want to check with your pediatrician before giving your little one any medicine)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Washcloths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hooded baby towels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fun and play<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Playpen, play yard, or portable crib<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Play mat or activity gym\u00a0(ideal for when\u00a0Baby\u00a0still does a lot of laying on\u00a0their\u00a0back or for getting in some important tummy time)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baby seat or lounger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teethers, rattles, and other baby-safe toys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Books<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Safety<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Carbon monoxide and smoke detector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>As&nbsp;Baby&nbsp;grows<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Another car seat intended for a bigger baby (keep an eye on the height and weight restrictions for your infant seat, they vary from brand to brand.
