If <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> newborn curls grow in straight and fine a few months later, there\u2019s no way to predict it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With teeth, though, there\u2019s a pretty predictable pattern they usually follow. Once the front teeth grow in, they\u2019re generally followed by the ones on either side, and then by the ones on the other side of that, until <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> is smiling a toothy grin up at you, from some completely unpredictable height, because who knows how tall <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they is<\/span> going to get?<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> is getting better and better at picking up and moving small objects &#8211; <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> coordination has never been better! This is definitely a sign of maturity, but not so much maturity that it\u2019s safe to ease up on watching out for choking hazards. In fact, as <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> gets better at picking potential choking hazards up, it\u2019s up to you to get even better at keeping them away from <span class=\"pronoun-them\" data-pronoun=\"them\">them<\/span>. If <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> is desperate to show off <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> pincer grasp, small, soft foods that <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they can<\/span> eat easily, like small cereal puffs, small cubes of cheese, small cubes of tofu, or small pieces of fruit are a great way for <span class=\"pronoun-them\" data-pronoun=\"them\">them<\/span> to hone <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> coordination safely, and have a snack at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> may be especially interested in toys around this time, too. Stacking toys, toys with buckets that objects go in and out of, and toys with moving parts, which let <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> show off all of <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> new motor skills for you may be a great hit.<\/p>\n<p>And if you haven\u2019t already, start reading to <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span>! <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">They is<\/span> like a sponge right now &#8211; soaking up all of the information that <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they possibly can<\/span> about the world. And given how short of a time it\u2019s been since <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they<\/span> showed up on this side of the womb, there is still a ton to learn. Reading to <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> helps build <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> vocabulary, and introduces <span class=\"pronoun-them\" data-pronoun=\"them\">them<\/span> to many ideas that <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they couldn\u2019t<\/span> encounter in day-to-day life &#8211; how many farm animals does <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> play with in your average day? Some books also mix in other sensory learning, like textures, sounds, and smells.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Milestones<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Says \u201cmama\u201d and \u201cdada\u201d and knows what they mean:&nbsp;<\/strong>This could start as early as 6 months, but most babies don\u2019t fully understanding what they mean until around this time. It\u2019s very possible that this hasn\u2019t happened yet, and it\u2019s also very possible that <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> even has another word or two in <span class=\"pronoun-their\" data-pronoun=\"their\">their<\/span> back diaper pocket.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Waves bye:&nbsp;<\/strong>If the first rule of parenting is \u201cdon\u2019t panic,\u201d the second is \u201cmake your baby wave bye to anybody and everybody once <span class=\"pronoun-they\" data-pronoun=\"they\">they is<\/span> able to.\u201d Babies love showing their new tricks, so <span class=\"pronoun-baby\" data-pronoun=\"baby\">Baby<\/span> will be happy to humor you on this one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u201cCruises\u201d furniture:&nbsp;<\/strong>It\u2019s not quite walking, but it\u2019s not exactly not walking? Cruising involves using the help of furniture to shuffle from place to place, so while it\u2019s probably not how you go about walking, it\u2019s certainly on the right
