Baby<\/span> is a quarter of a year old! It\u2019s not a milestone that\u2019s generally agreed to be enough of a big deal to throw a party, but you could do it anyway, if you felt like it. In the next quarter of Baby<\/span>\u2019s first year, they is<\/span> going to be able to start using the strength they has<\/span> been building up for the last 3 months to sing songs (in their<\/span> heart), run marathons (in their<\/span> mind), and roll over from her tummy onto their<\/span> back, and then back onto their<\/span> tummy again.<\/p>\n

After that, they might<\/span> push themselves<\/span> up into crawling position, and maybe even do a little crawling. On the other hand, they might<\/span> find a much stranger way to move around, like an army-creep, a barrel-roll, and crab-walk, or a baby-specific scoot.<\/p>\n

As they works<\/span> up to that kind of advanced motion, though, they is<\/span> also going to have some smaller, but no less important, advances. Baby teeth, for example, are pretty small, but they\u2019ll be very important when they grows<\/span> out of the mushy slush that makes up the earliest baby food, and starts to look around for something more solid to sink those little chompers into. Teething usually doesn\u2019t start until the 6-month mark or so, but for some babies, it can start far earlier.<\/p>\n

They might<\/span> get really attached to a certain stuffed toy or baby blanket, or they might<\/span> be uninterested in every toy designed with a baby in mind that they is<\/span> offered, and only really want to play with whatever it is you keep in your pockets, laptop bag, or purse. Baby<\/span>\u2019s options are endless, as the other three quarters of their<\/span> first year stretches ahead of them<\/span>. The only thing that\u2019s certain is that it\u2019s sure to be a wild ride.<\/p>\n

Around this time, Baby<\/span> continues to work on their<\/span> communication skills and strength. You\u2019ll probably hear them<\/span> start to \u201ctalk\u201d up a storm soon…if only those words meant anything! Make sure you engage Baby<\/span> in this conversation often though, as it will help them<\/span> learn the conventions of how people interact.<\/p>\n

Baby<\/span> is also getting stronger and stronger everyday, as they continues<\/span> to develop through tummy time, and is getting closer to being able to sit up on their<\/span> own – then it\u2019s time to get moving!<\/p>\n
